Recipient of the Ark-La-Tex Texas Longhorn Breeders Association
2023 Scholarship
Recipient of the Ark-La-Tex Texas Longhorn Breeders Association
2023 Scholarship
Braxten graduated from Clear Lake High School in Houston, Texas. He will be attending Tarleton State University in the Fall of 2023, majoring in Animal Science with a pre-vet concentration. He is also raising his own small herd of Texas Longhorn cattle.
Braxten has been active with his FFA Chapter and just completed his first year as a member of the Houston Livestock Show & rodeo's Junior Rodeo Committee. He is a member of several honor organizations, including Phi Theta Kappa, National Technical Honor Society, National English Honor Society and Rho Kapp, as well as various community-based service organizations.
We wish this young man all he best in achieving his goals.
The Ark-La-Tex Longhorn Breeders Association has been a proud supporter of the Youth and further education in our organization. We realize this is our future. Our organization offers two programs to our members.
Our Affiliate offers a $1000 Scholarship to be awarded to a Junior Member and Active Members.
The High School applicant must be a graduating Senior and attending College during the Fall Semester following their High School graduation.
The Undergraduate applicant must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average at his/her present University or College, and they must be an active Ark-La-Tex member. The students are required to fill out an application and an Essay.
If more than one member applies for each scholarship, than the recipient will be chosen by the Committee, or an unbiased Source also chosen by the Committee. The Scholarship money will be paid directly to the College.
Deadline and rules are the same for both applications. Applications below.
Deadline for the $1000 scholarship is June 15, 2024. Winners will be notified on July 1, 2024.
We also give away a cash Scholarship to a graduating Senior who has participated in our Annual Fall Show in October. This is done through our Calf Donation Program. If a Senior's name is drawn during the Calf Donation Drawing, then he or she will be awarded a cash scholarship to be paid to the college they will be attending in the Fall. This is explained at the Show and the recipient must be present to win, plus fill the requirement of the Calf Donation Program.
